Surrounded by enormous rocks, the medieval town of Monemvasia is located in the southeast of the Peloponnese peninsula. From Byzantine churches to picturesque alleys - Monemvasia is a very special piece of Greece and convinces with its romantic and at the same time mysterious atmosphere. Must-Sees during a trip to Monemvasia are the castle, the old town and the upper town. The latter is a ruin that towers high above the city and provides the best view of the old town, the sea and the bay. Those who need a refreshment can simply follow the old city wall to the sea and jump into the water at the beach of Monemvasia.


In the east of the peninsula you will find something very special: the cultural site of Epidauros. Once you arrive here, you will feel like you have been taken back in time and you will be able to recreate ancient Greece in the best possible way. Especially worth seeing? The amphitheatre of Epidauros! Since its discovery and excavation, the world cultural heritage site is one of the largest and oldest amphitheatres in the world. During the summer months you can even visit some plays and operas here. However, the tickets are very popular and sold out quickly. Therefore, you should plan and book early enough!
