Travelling with Carry-on Baggage: Your questions answered

That next trip is coming up, and you’re about to start packing. But what are you actually allowed to take with you in your carry-on baggage – and how about those weight restrictions? This week, we’ve compiled – and answered – your questions relating to carry-on baggage.

How large is my carry-on baggage allowed to be, and how much can it weigh?

Your carry-on baggage must not be any more than 55 x 40 x 23 cm in size , or weigh any more than 8 kg . You’ll find carry-on baggage racks at the airport; these are there to show you whether your baggage complies with the size restrictions for carry-on baggage.

How should I stow my carry-on baggage correctly once I’m on board?

Here are three simple tips to help you stow your carry-on baggage quickly and safely on board:

  • Larger items of carry-on baggage (trolleys, for example) need to be stowed in the overhead compartment above your seat.
  • Smaller items can be placed beneath the seat in front of you.
  • Your jacket can be hung on the clothes hook on the seat in front of you . This will ensure it doesn’t get creased while you’re in the air and is close to hand when it’s time to disembark.
